Architect DI Katharina Keimlmayr

I completed my architecture studies at the Vienna University of Technology in 2015. I then gained valuable experience in several architecture practices, working on projects of very different scales. The years I spent in social housing shaped me particularly strongly.

In 2026 I passed the Austrian chartered architect examination and fulfilled a long-held wish: the step into self-employment. With my own studio I can realise my ideas of good architecture and guide projects personally, individually and with great commitment — from the first idea to completion.

Social housing in particular has had a lasting influence on how I see architecture. It is there that the quality of good planning becomes most visible: it is not the size of a room that makes it worth living in, but the way it can be used.

The challenge of achieving the greatest possible quality of living, functionality and atmosphere within a limited area still fascinates me. For me, good architecture emerges through intelligent floor plans, a coherent sense of space and a deliberate approach to light, materials and proportion.

I love beauty, but beauty alone is not enough. My aim is to create spaces that are functional, timeless and individual — spaces that reflect the personality of the people living in them and convey a sense of security.

Because to me, architecture has succeeded when a building becomes a home.
